Painting Air Canada Boeing 747

The air hostess made an announcement saying we were going to land in Toronto in 45 minutes.

Excitedly, we fastened our seatbelts.

As we started descending, and circling, I looked out of the window and saw so many lakes.

And the lakes had boats in them.

So I thought to myself, there's a lot of outdoor activity here.

Ah those good 'ol days of flying ...

I have travelled by air across Africa, Europe and Asia for more than thirty years.
Still remember flying in the Boeing 707, 727 & 737.
Also remember flying BOAC before they became British Airways.
One of the most memorable moments
Was seeing the mountain peaks of the Swiss Alps from the cockpit of a Boeing 747.
Yes, in those days my dad and I would step into the cockpit of our flights to say hello to the pilots!

Don't even think of it today 😊
Flying is now a nightmare, especially within North America

This was our first flight on Air Canada, from London Heathrow to Toronto Pearson.
That was 18 years ago!
And my favourite aircraft is still the Boeing 747

Minutes later, the pilot landed the aircraft so gently, I didn't even realize we had touched down.
This was the smoothest landing I had ever experienced!

We were on one of the last flights of the Air Canada Boeing 747.
A few months later all their Boeing 747's were retired.
This is the most beautiful aircraft ever built!

Squirrel having a Strawberry Snack

Looked out of the WFH office window now and saw  ...

My strawberry was gone!

No wonder in Europe, the Eastern Gray (or grey) squirrel is considered an invasive species

Working with Leather

 Making a few leather belts

This one is for a friend who asked for one

Of all the leather stamps I have, she wanted the cross
(No, she's not a 'Christian', but she's experienced the power of the cross)

And this belt is for me, or for anyone who wants it

Painting a view of Banff from the slopes of Mt. Norquay

I try to maintain my sanity and keep a check on mental health

By taking my mind far, far away from people, to places.

Places in the Canadian Rockies!

Started this painting last week, and just finished now.

If you live in Banff, or have travelled there

You probably know this place

Maybe you've even sat in these red chairs on the slopes of Mt. Norquay

And taken in the spectacular view of the town of Banff

Star Anise Cardamom Tea

For an amazing cup of Star Anise Cardamom Tea

All you need is fresh green cardamom, star anise, and something to grind the spices.

If you are in a hurry, use a tea bag for the tea.

I sometimes make a pot of tea, and grind the spices each time someone wants a cup of tea.

Open and grind a whole green cardamom, and a very tiny bit of star anise

(less than a quarter teaspoon of powder with both spices together )

Remove the tea bag from the hot water, add the powder, add cream and sugar

(we use half a teaspoon of condensed milk which is already sweet)

Btw, did you know that star anise contains shikimic acid

which is the main ingredient that pharmaceutical companies use

in the manufacture of Tamiflu (flu shot)?

They wouldn't want you to know this.

I'm not suggesting that you will live forever or can avoid the flu with this or any spices,

but we've never had the flu or the flu shot till date!

Although we are triple vaccinated 💉💉💉

we still use many spices for their taste more than their health benefits, in our cooking.

For more of my recipes do a search on this blog with the words star anise

 Enjoy your cup of tea!

😊
