Replaced the rear main seal and PCV

At 142,821 kilometres.

Well, there goes a good chunk of our summer road trip budget!

Spotted an oil leak on the garage floor which was traced by Audi to the Rear Main Crankshaft Seal.

According to many reliable technicians, offline and online, a clogged/faulty PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation/ Audi calls it an oil seperator) can result in pressure that is built up inside the crankcase, leading to oil leaks and other expensive repairs, in any car.

But somehow, the replacement of a relatively inexpensive part like the PCV is NOT part of regular maintenance in many brands of cars. 

Why?

I've got our cars serviced faithfully for 8 years at the dealer based on their maintenance schedule, but with this experience, I have lost trust in Audi service, and found someone else who knows Audi's well. 
(They also know Porsche, Land Rover, Aston Martin and Ferrari very well ☺)

I'd like to understand from Audi, why replacement of the oil separator/PCV is not part of regular maintenance? 

If you know someone who owns an Audi, tell them to replace their PCV/oil seperator with their next oil change, because it will save them a few thousand dollars, and they will thank you!
