Purple, Pink and Orange Gladioli

As if they were waiting for the extreme heat to arrive, slowly, one by one, the purple, pink and orange gladioli have now bloomed

 

More than 95% of this species is native to sub-Saharan Africa

 

And behold, the hummingbird (wonder if the same one we saw last year?) 

has also arrived to participate in this joyful event!

Happy family: Duck with ducklings

While walking along the shores of Lake Ontario, I saw this happy family of ducks enjoying the summer afternoon 

There were three more ducklings on a rock about four feet ahead of these

As I zoomed in, the mother briefly looked up to determine if there was any danger.
