Listening to Gordon Lightfoot and Painting Storm Clouds over Lake Ontario, Canada

It's been a while since I did a painting.

Been working on other leather and metal craft projects

It's a gloomy rainy day,

And this is a view of Lake Ontario in Canada

The name Ontario is derived from the Iroquoian word Kaniatarí:io or Oniatarí:io

Meaning "lake of shining waters" or "beautiful lake"

Lake Ontario has existed for more than 11,000 years!

And it surely is a beautiful Lake!

Roll On - J.J. Cale 🎸

"If the sun don't shine this evening
And the rain is falling down
Don't grieve just 'cause it's cloudier
C'mon down to the corner
We're having a party there ..."

Roll On - J.J. Cale

Watching the Hummingbird before the rain

There's only one bird that can fly backwards, and upside down!
And every year, they visit us starting in the spring because we've planted a garden just for them,
         and the monarch butterflies.
The amazing thing is before migrating south for the winter,
these tiny birds double their body weight.
They then undertake a non-stop 20-hour flight across the Gulf of Mexico,
traveling roughly 800 kilometres over open water without a single break.
This is the male ruby-throated hummingb

Dirty Tires

Wish there were more places around here I could drive off-road

Maybe we should move away from the crowded city

To someplace where there are no people or roads

Hiking at Mizzy Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada

For old times sake, the kids (now grown up and settled) said

"let's go together for a hike at Mizzy Lake".

So we did just that.

This time we stayed at Huntsville, Ontario, Canada, and explored the area.

Yes, it's my 60th birthday, and my wife and kids know what I enjoy doing on my birthday

We have hiked the Mizzy Lake trail for almost twenty years.

The parking lot was full, and this time we didn't see any wildlife

But we had fun!

What a beautiful sunset over Huntsville, Ontario, Canada

Take a look at wildlife we've encountered in earlier hikes here

Replacing Tires on the Land Cruiser

Unlike most North American Land Cruiser owners,

From my experience, I have good things to say about the Dunlop Grand Trek PT22 OEM tires

They took us safely through -22 degrees C through two Canadian winters,

And almost 50,000 kilometres of highway (and a little off-road driving in the Canadian Rockies)

Not once did I lose traction or feel uncomfortable driving the Dunlop tires even on ice!

Of course they didn't look very capable. But looks aren't everything.

Driving is also about the driver, not just the tires!

I could easily do another 30,000 kilometres, but the chance came to replace them.

So at 49,184 kilometres, here are the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W tires (Made in Japan)

Btw, the 4W in A/T4W stands for Wear, Winter, Wet, and Warranty.

What else does a driver we need?
