The #ONStorm is no reason not to barbecue some Beef and Pork Kebabs

The much needed rain was good.
Ask the roses they'll agree ... Here is one for you!

Got these flat skewers from our Middle Eastern friends.
Flat skewers prevent the kebabs from rolling, and they also allow for even cooking of the meat

This is a mixture of ground pork and beef (and some secret ingredients including green chillies)

Wanna try some, invite yourself over

Have a cool evening friends!

Love the subtle flavour of this Iranian Saffron tea

Got a box of this special tea as a gift from an Iranian friend

Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world

Cheers!

Thank GOD for friends from around the world

Cooking Crab Curry with Red Wine and Onions

Rock crabs

After they are slightly cooked, the shell changes color

Frying onions

Cracking the shell so that the spices get to the meat

Adding freshly ground garlic and ginger to the onions

Adding freshly ground star anise, dried red chilly, cinnamon, cloves, a little salt

Add the crab, a little red wine, and cook on low flame for a few minutes

Check out the lobster here

Without sight, there would be no flight

Had a great day at the airport thanks to FedEx and Orbis Canada.

Orbis has a flying eye hospital on board a McDonnell Douglas DC-10 and is dedicated to saving sight worldwide.

Watch the video below to learn more about Orbis

Pulling a Boeing 757 is easier than I thought

It was a great day to see aircraft up close

The MD-11 came much later after the DC-10, sometime in 1990.
(I still remember 'seeing' the DC 10 and Lockheed TriStar L-1011's as a child in the '70's)

This is what an airplane without passenger seats would look like

First time standing underneath here

As a child I had the opportunity to go into the cockpit of every flight we took and I remember seeing the Swiss Alps from the cockpit of a Boeing 747
Gone are those days ...

The cockpit of the MD-11.

I'm guessing these are pitot tubes. What are pitot tubes?
They are supposed to be closed like this when the aircraft is not in use. So small, but so vital

The progression of safety

Imagine a world where you can't see.
Without sight, there would be no flight

How many different airlines have you flown on?

The child in me could spend all day watching planes land and takeoff, but it's time to go home

Frying Audi Doughnuts with Pancake Mix

A friend gave us some pancake mix.
I don't care so much for pancakes, so I made doughnuts with them.
Added milk, eggs, a little sugar and vanilla for flavour

Here is how to make Audi doughnuts

She later asked how I cut the doughnuts.
I used the metal base of our pepper mill and the metal cap from a bottle of red wine

How you choose to strike can determine your credibility, and the integrity of your profession

No matter what your profession, people have issues with their employers. It is not just teachers who have workplace problems, performance reviews and salary issues.
(I come from a family of teachers, and grew up when once upon a time, teaching was considered a noble profession)

Having a constitutional right to strike does not mean that you have to strike. However, if you choose to strike, how you choose to strike can determine your credibility, and the integrity of your profession.

Teachers, when you have issues with your employer, sort them out with your employer. If you have failed, try again.
As an employee in a company, would you allow your workplace issues to affect your customer? No, you wouldn't. You'd be fired. You would discuss it within your company and arrive at a solution. If you fail to arrive at a solution, you part ways.
Remember, no one particular individual is indispensable in any profession. There are many talented more experienced individuals who are looking for work, who could replace you without wanting any of the stuff you demand in a strike.

When you choose to deprive children (students) of their education, you are failing in your responsibility as a teacher.

"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children"

The birds of the sky nest by the waters; they sing among the branches - Psalm 104:12

This pair of American Goldfinches visits us several times everyday for food and water

                                                                             The male

And the female

And they sing beautiful songs!

Pure joy!
